I bought my new Zoggs goggles online, and here they are! They’re limited edition.

The goggles have interchangeable nosebridges, UV protection, anti-fog coating and double band headstrap. They also come with detailed instructions on how to use and care for them.

£1 from the sale of every pack goes directly to Sport Relief.

Traditionally some of the money raised by Swimathon went back into the local swimming pools. Each year we hear of more pools closing or being put under threat, with promises of new ones sometimes seeming little more than a pipe dream. I had hoped that they would be available in my local pool, but the staff have not heard anything about them.

It took only 10 years from the closure of Victoria Baths in Manchester in 1993 until it appeared in a National Restoration programme. Following over 10 years of restoration, it is now open as a museum. There were 3 pools open for use, in addition to the Turkish Baths on site. Within walking distance of Victoria Baths is the Manchester Aquatics Centre, which was opened for the 2002 Commonwealth Games. This is a fantastic facility with two 50m indoor pools in addition to many other facilities. Yet I wonder where the people of Manchester swam between 1993 and 2002, and what plans are in store for our other ancient swimming pools.
